And the countdown continues...

How far along? 35+ weeks
Total weight gain? More than I care to admit.
Movement? Oh yeah. Sometimes I think T-von is hatching escape plans and is testing all his options. I've got feet, elbows, and a butt poking out in all kinds of places.
Name? None decided yet although we are working from a short list. As as many of you know, when we decide it will be top secret until the little guy makes his debut.
Nicknames?
  • T-Von: Given by his dad and uncle Nick...the "T" stands for Traugott, which was Nick's contribution to the name dilemma, and the brothers (all 5 of them) decided that adding a "von" in front of Lauer makes a better last name for all of us.... thus "T-von" for short.
  • Yadi: Given by our STL friends here in Tuscaloosa after I revealed that Yadier Molina is my favorite player for the STL Cardinals.
Labor signs? Stronger Braxton-Hicks contractions, some uncomfortable but not painful. But that's about it!
Latest from the doc? After measuring my belly at my appointment on Thursday, Dr. R announced... "You're measuring big!" I have a feeling my eyes got a little wide at this pronouncement, because he quickly added, "But he hasn't dropped at all yet so he may be actually be right on the mark." Either way, Dr. R wants another ultrasound when I am closer to my due date!
Prayer requests?
  • Timing: We will be excited whenever T-von decides to arrive, but if we had our choice he would wait until after Thanksgiving weekend. That is the end of the volleyball season for Josh and will assure his presence and my peace of mind!
  • Feeding: I was not able to breast feed Noah. The simple reason for this was that I didn't make enough milk. But we have often wondered if that was somehow related to Noah's leukodystrophy, but no one was able to give us any conclusive answers. I would very much like to breast feed this baby... and need my body to cooperate!

I. Can't. Wait!

Did you see our volleyball baby pics on the Fresh Art blog the other day? Carrie and Tommy Ackerman's boys... I thought of you the entire time and wish I could come there to photograph T-von! :)

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I have been secretly reading yours for some time and want to let you know that we have always been praying for your family!!

I had some issues with breastfeeding too and not making enough, I had to pump after every feeding to increase my supply and I took Fenugreek and ate tons of oatmeal, haha! I am just fine now so something must have worked.

By the way, the monkey makes a loud boing noise constantly, even when you walk by it!

You look fantastic! Praying for you, Josh, and of course--T-Von. Will pray about nursing. It was really hard for me as well, and took immense commitment to get the milk to come in. I also drank the tea w/the Fenugreek.

Deb,
Just read your blog and it made me laugh and cry at the same time.
Good luck with the next few weeks and to quote the great Tom Petty, the waiting is the hardest part.
Hugs and kisses to you and Josh.

I could never produce enough milk either and it was heartbreaking. I am in nursing school and when we were doing or OB content a lactation specialist came to see us and she said that what they are all using now is a medication called dom perignon - I'm not sure of the spelling. It is no longer available in the US, but you can get it from Canada and New Zealand. It is not a safety thing why it is not available here, but a $ thing. I can't quite remember what the medication is originally for, but the drug companies came up with something more profitable so they pulled it. Anyway, apparently it has been working wonders for people and you don't have the higher incidence of depression that you can get with reglan - which didn't work for me either. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw this out there. If I ever have another baby I will be definitely giving this a try.
